Two Shows: Dark Kabaret is not a children's
show and quite often it gets out of hand. Both shows will be ribald, sexy, and dark. They will also be beautiful, elegant, and intelligent. You are welcome to bring your kids but be advised, this show is definately rated PG.
As you can see From this image Amy is not only beautiful but stylish as well. Amy is from Memphis and carries herself with a lovley southern charm. Her music is every bit as lovely as her face and her lyrics are every bit as stylish as you would expect from the lady in this picture. She is elegant when she wants to be but gritty when she needs to be. I love this girls music and I think you will too.
She has been in the feature films Walk the Line, Black Snake Moan and a few indies as well. You can hear her new song, Take Em or Leave Em in the new hit film The Heartbreak Kid in theaters now.
Here is some video of Amy playing live in Memphis.
The Show
The Dark Kabaret is a benefit for The
Climate Theater. Dark Kabaret is America’s premiere variety show
featuring top variety and cabaret artists from all over the globe,
including performers from Cirque du Soleil, the Lido in Paris, the
Chameleon in Berlin, and the Edinburough Festival in Scotland. Dark
Kabaret is the creation of Paul Nathan (HBO, MTV, Star Trek Voyager)
who also hosts the show. Eric McFadden creates the dark, sexy music
which sets the tone for the show. In fact the Dark Kabaret was inspired
by Eric’s music. This years show features a dynamic lineup
of international class Cabaret, Circus, and Burlesque artists from
stages all over the world performing racy, sexy, comedic and amazing
routines set to Eric’s unique and visceral sounds.
The Artists:
We are proud to announce a late addition to the show. John Gilkey from Cirque Du Soliel has just come on board with a brand new routine. Here is some video of John doing one of my favorite bits in Cirque.
This year’s show features an unprecedented
cast of performers including:
Eric's Music is visceral, exciting, and beautiful.
The Dark Kabaret is a collaboration between Eric
McFadden and Paul Nathan. Eric's music was the inspiration for the
first Kabaret five years ago.
Frank Olivier (The Tonight show, Twisted
Cabaret). Frank is the most gifted performer it has ever been my pleasure
to work with. He is imaginative, funny, and seriously off kilter.
The New York Times called Frank a "Show Stopper" and
Rolling Stone Magazine said "He has the grace of a stoned
rhinoceros". Come see why Frank was nominated for a Helen
Hayes award for his work with Mickey Rooney in Sugar Babies.
Sterling Johnson (Evening Magazine, Smithsonian magazine). Eight years
ago I got a callfrom Eddie Kertel (an agent at AEC) who told
me he had given my number to "this guy". "The
guy" called me and said he blew bubbles using only his hands and a bowl
of water. I was intrigued. Apparently Eddie had told "this
guy" that I could help him to create a show. I checked
out what he did and told him to have an act together in six
weeks that I was putting him on stage with one of the stars
of Cirque Du Soleil and a dozen of the top variety artists in
the world. I think my advice was "Don't suck". He
took my advice and is now one of the most elegant, graceful,
and endearing performers I have ever had the pleasure of sharing
the stage with. He makes me feel like a kid again.
Bob Hartman Bob has been a favorite of mine since I first saw him 20 years ago. He makes me feel like a kid. I hope to have video of him up in a couple of days in the mean time just trust me, Bob's show alone is worth the ticket price.
Dark Kabaret is the only revue in the city to offer something for
everyone, as it features a line of drop-dead gorgeous burlesque
dancers, world-class variety and circus artists and music that will
move you.
In the past we have always had burlesque dancers, this year we have created something different, something special... a show by Dark Garden. Origionally I worked with Dark Garden to create this show for an event in Germany. The show was so good that I begged them to do it for Dark Kabaret. It's an absinth inspired event that is sexy, fun, and beautiful.
Paul Nathan hosts shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles,
London, Hong Kong, and Europe. Paul produces theatrical events and
spectacles all over the world. With the help of long-time collaborators
Joegh Bullock of Climate Theater, and Eric McFadden, Nathan has
become an important success story in the realm of cabaret-style
production shows. "It is exciting to have a show here in my home town of San
Francisco." said Nathan, producer
of the critically acclaimed shows, Devil in the Deck, Titillation
Theater, and Kabaret. "There are a couple of choices of revues
in San Francisco, but none have the production value and appeal
of Dark Kabaret. In ninety minutes, you get everything that is San
Francisco: beautiful people, glamorous costumes, visceral performances, dark
sexy music and more passion than you can possibly imagine."
Dark Garden I love Dark Garden for many reasons. It is a business that was started by women, owned by a woman and dedicated to making beautiful things for women to wear... Clothing that makes beautiful women feel sexy, elegant, and special. Fashion is art and I am proud to showcase the art and artistry of Dark Garden. This year we will be treated to a very special show inspired by Edward Gorey showcasing the art, fashion, and models of Dark Garden.
